2+2 Transfer Program in the San Francisco Bay Area
AE Tutoring offers the 2+2 Transfer Program in the San Francisco Bay Area. It serves as a pathway for students to earn an associate degree from a community college for two years and transfer to a four-year university as a junior to complete a bachelor's degree.
To participate in the program, students must meet the academic requirements of the community college and the university they plan to transfer to. This usually includes maintaining a certain GPA and completing specific courses required for their intended major.
Why We Recommend A Transfer Program For International Students
There are several advantages for international students who participate in a transfer program when applying to colleges in the US.
Cost Savings
Completing lower-division coursework at a community college can result in significant cost savings, allowing students to earn a degree from a US university at a lower overall cost.
Easier Admissions Process
Community colleges often have more flexible admissions policies and may provide additional support to help international students navigate the admissions process.
Improved English Proficiency
International students who attend a community college have the opportunity to improve their English proficiency skills while completing lower-division coursework.
Diversity
A diverse student population can provide a more inclusive and welcoming environment for international students and help them acclimate to life in the US.

Real Cases
Student A from Beijing
Student A didn't achieve a satisfactory SAT score and was admitted to a university ranked around 70 to 90. Therefore, he gave up direct enrollment and chose a 2+2 program. He enrolled in September 2020 and had a TOEFL score, so he directly enrolled in the English transfer course. His major was art history.
In the summer of 2021, Student A volunteered at the Capital Museum and received a recommendation letter for his outstanding performance. In the fall, he began preparing for transfer applications while maintaining excellent grades. He submitted his transfer application at the end of November.
In mid-April 2022, Student A received an acceptance letter for art history majors from the University of California, San Diego and the University of California, Los Angeles, while maintaining an excellent GPA for the community college's spring semester courses. In September 2022, he entered UCLA to continue his junior year.
Student R from Shanghai
Student R arrived in the US to attend 11th grade in high school. They had poor grades, and high school grades from Shanghai were not successfully calculated into the US high school GPA, causing significant delays in applying to universities. They also had no SAT scores.
Student R started community college courses in 2018. There, they volunteered during the summer of 2019 and attended summer school. They submitted transfer applications to the University of California and California State University in the fall of 2019, majoring in environmental engineering.
Student R received acceptance letters from the engineering departments at San Jose State University and California Polytechnic State University in March 2020. Additionally, they received a guaranteed admissions contract from the University of California, Davis, and later received transfer acceptance letters from UC San Diego, UCLA, and the University of California, Berkeley.
